Can't draw or love to draw? The Big Draw is perfect for you!
The Covent Garden Big Draw is a celebration of drawing for
all ages. Join Posy Simmonds, Steve Bell, Gerald Scarfe and
an eager team of top architects, designers and cartoonists to
explore, and draw around, the beautiful historic piazza of
Covent Garden - London's first public square. All drawing
materials will be provided free.
Drop-in events
Put yourself in the Picture Add a self-portrait to the market
setting outlined by artist Phoebe Cope on the world's longest Visitors Book.
Transports of Delight London Transport Museum offers a
glimpse of its new look, prior to its re-launch. Sketch an insider's view
of a London icon, the Black Cab, in the company of a cabbie with plenty
of stories. Join workshops to capture transport and movement, inspired
by classic posters.
The Big Picture Frame Artists, cartoonists, designers and
other celebrities add drawings to a giant frame: Michael Foreman,
The Bill Amberg Design Team, Andrew Logan, Posy Simmonds,
Adam Dant, Lucinda Rodgers, Steve Bell, Martin Rowson,
Andrew Marr and Gerald Scarfe.
Cartooning Marquee Learn the tricks of the
caricaturist's art from the professionals or create
your own cartoon. Find out how you would look as a cartoon star
and strike a hilarious pose for your companion's sketchbook. Translate
your inventions into masks.

Picture the Past Under St Paul's Portico meet historic
Covent Garden characters – Nell Gwynn (born nearby), Inigo Jones,
Eliza Doolittle and Ellen Terry (one of the theatre stars commemorated
in this Actors' Church). Capture their portraits on a vast mural, with the
Royal Society of Portrait Painters and other professionals. Or join
the stage design team in one-hour workshops, racing to complete the
set for each character's curtain call.
Amazing Space Celebrate London's first public space
on a Walk & Sketch tour led by DRAWING AT WORK. Expert
drawers from leading architectural practices reveal favourite vistas.
The Royal Society of Architectural Illustration offers advice on drawing
the urban scene.

Harvest Festival Feast your eyes on an epic
arrangement of fruit and vegetables piled high on traditional market
barrows. This giant still life will be an ideal inspiration for a series of
workshops inviting contemporary interpretations of a traditional subject.
Battle of the Cartoonists: "High Life, Low Life"
Leading cartoonists cross pencils in a two-hour battle to create the most
sensational banners, which will then go on display in the Piazza for all to see.
