Over a thousand people came to Snibston's East Midland's Big Draw Launch,
creating a tremendous atmosphere. The majority of visitors gladly joined in the
drawing and painting activities and got involved in monster-making.

Artist Liz Minichiello and fellow professional artists offered advice and led
workshops on drawing scientific instruments, taking rubbings of stones and wood
textures, as well as encouraging groups to create 'giant' works of art.

The weird shapes of machinery were the inspiration for huge moving monsters.
This monster-drawing drew monster crowds! Also popular was drawing with the
help of cameras obscura and lucida.

One of the highlights of the day was when the artists got the children to draw
Mr Winkless (The Vice-Chairman of Leicestershire CC), whilst the artists
themselves did their own version.

The visitors had a fantastic time......the whole site was buzzing....and the
artists and staff enjoyed themselves as well!
