There was a wide variety of activities on offer. One of the most popular was
the workshop with Robert Crowther (an illustrator with Walker Books) who showed
children how to make wacky pop-up cards. Everyone got a small prize but the
overall winner was as four-year-old who made a dynamic bi-coloured animated
bird.

Trevor Price, from LSI Architects, took a fresh look at drawing architectural
plans in both 2D and 3D in the East Mezzanine Gallery. With a wonderful view
over the ground floor, visitors quickly tuned into drawing perspective.

Artists Bryony Graham and Marilyn Mann assembled an enticing range of devices
for drawing against the odds, by using the non-leading hand; shading with
rubbers; fixing pencils on long sticks; using fragile chalk on slates.

The Sainsbury Collections were a rich source of inspiration, but the artists
also encouraged many to do rubbings from the many kinds of surfaces available.
One of the most captivatating artworks of the day was a tiny scratchy drawing
of 'how a banana feels'!
