Drawn from Memory
4 October 2002
Drawn from Memory invited older generations to record
in drawing their memories of earlier life. This project to create a visual
historic archive was launched by Campaign patron Quentin Blake. 95 senior
citizens, some of whom may not have drawn since their school days, joined in
enthusiastically to create a bank of images which are on one level very
personal but also record aspects of life that may soon be forgotten. This event
was the start of a month-long programme of drawing at the National Museum &
Gallery to celebrate The Big Draw.
