1200 visitors of all ages took part in the Big Draw 2003 launch. Some of the
visitors picked up a free sketchpad and pencil and headed straight to one of
the galleries to draw.
Others visited the Threatened exhibition and listened to story teller,
Michael Harvey, while drawing interpretations of his story.
The Welsh cartoon character, Sali Mali, likes to draw and therefore spent her
time with some of the younger children drawing in the galleries.
The cartoon series is made by Siriol Animation and Robert Brown, one of the
animators, came along to spend the afternoon demonstrating the process of
drawing for animation.
The art galleries came alive with all generations responding to some of the
work on display. The Art Cart was full of inspiring materials for visitors to
use.
It provided a valuable way to appreciate the paintings and sculpture and
families instigated some interesting conversations about their art work.

Children and adults took their drawings to the art workshop to
develop them further with paint and colour. The work was then glued onto large
cut-out shapes.
These activities continued for a further week and a selection of this work was
on display through November.
