The Campaign For Drawing   The Big Draw

BIG DRAW NEWS

Sign up today to join the ever-expanding Big Draw global community. The 'One Cell Made Me' DVD, a creative toolkit for teaching evolution, produced in partnership with Bow Arts Trust, was launched to great acclaim at the Ecsite conference, Budapest. The Big Draw is now on the agenda at science centres, galleries and heritage sites across Europe. The Big Draw prize fund reflects the growing ambition of UK organisers: general awards have increased to £750; the new NADFAS prize of £1,500 is for drawing activities for young people and the £500 Arts Award is for projects led by 14-25 year olds. Find out more.

Our Power Drawing Professional Development Programme supports teachers, cultural educators and others who use drawing in their work. Courses focus on developing and embedding drawing as a tool for learning across the primary and secondary curriculum, or on delivering successful Big Draw events. We plan sessions in partnership with a wide range of local authorities, individual schools, and cultural or community organisations. If you are interested in a Power Drawing course for your group please contact Kirsten Gibbs.

BIG DRAW 2008 PARTNERSHIPS

Please add your support to Save the Children’s Doves for Peace Campaign. Download the toolkit and take part in creating the world's largest flock of peace doves for Oslo's Nobel Peace Prize Festival this December. The aim is to raise international awareness and funds to help 3 million children affected by conflict receive a good quality education and become ambassadors of peace within their communities. There are plans for a curtain of doves on the Peace Laureates' platform outside Oslo City Hall; your gallery or school could be represented.

We have teamed up with Campaign for Learning and Booktrust to promote family learning, through The Big Picture Party. We're appealing to librarians, teachers and other educators, booksellers, publishers and festival promoters and, of course illustrators, to take picture books to a wider audience. Masses of ideas for using this theme at Big Draw events are available at Campaign for Learning with additional resources at Booktrust. Remember you can 'win' a Best New Illustrator!

Now please tell us your news by registering your plans now. We need full details for press dispatches starting in July. And it's not too late to join in.
