EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The Campaign's Power Drawing education programme has been supported by the
Heritage Lottery Fund, the Department for Education and Skills and the Esmée
Fairbairn Foundation. Led by Eileen Adams, it has worked with nursery, primary
and secondary schools, higher education institutions and educators in museums,
galleries and heritage sites. Drawing develops skills of perception,
communication and invention, which are transferable to any subject and can
support learning in a variety of educational and cultural settings. Since 2001,
500 schools, 30 institutions of higher education and 80 museums and galleries
have participated in this action research programme. Power Drawing publications
report on this work.
Thanks to new funding support, the Campaign is launching Power Drawing Professional Development in spring 2008.
The purpose of this programme is to embed drawing as a medium for learning in a variety of settings. It aims to meet wide demand from practitioners across the UK and to share the experiences of Power Drawing's first seven years.
The Drawing Research Network links researchers in a wide variety of higher
education institutions who are investigating the nature, functions and values
of drawing. Go to www.drawing.org.uk
